Whether you own horses already, have just gotten your first horse, or are contemplating getting one, there are many things that you should know about how to properly care for your horse. Some health and grooming requirements are applicable to all horses, and other issues are important if you plan to use your horse as a "show animal" or in competion.

You should protect your investment by providing the right vaccines and instituting a de-worming program. A few of the more common vaccines for horses protect against influenza strains and various viral pathogens. Your vet can tell you how often and what vaccines are necessary. Different areas of the country have different health issues for horses so it is important to work with a veterinarian to help you set up a vaccinating and de-worming program. Once you've done that, you can come to Quality Supply to provide your worming and vaccination supplies.
We carry a full line of equine health supplies from some of the leading companies in the industry. Whether you need influenza and virus vaccines or wormer products we can provide everything you need to take the best care of your horse. We turn to companies like Farnam and Pfizer for our supplies so that we can be assured of the quality of the products we sell. We carry dewormer in paste or pellet form and we stock 5 different wormer products so that you can rotate the product which provides the most effective protection from worms.
Large $54.95, Medium $34.95, Small $24.99, xsmall $16.99 Equine nutrition supplements - Vita Stress

VITA STRESS contains all 10 major amino acids plus four more.
And, what is very important horse owners, the amino acids are nutritionally balanced in high enough levels to enhance any feeding program.

Proteins are the primary constituents of the structural and protective tissues: bones, ligaments, hair, hooves, skin, organs, and muscles.

Proteins should be fed at the same time vitamins and minerals are fed. This enables the three groups to be digested together, enabling each nutrient to respond to the chemical reaction of the others.  Without all 10 of the major amino acids in your supplement, your horse is not getting optimum results from the expensive vitamins and minerals you are providing. VITA STRESS is nutritionally balanced with all three—vitamins, minerals, and proteins.

A deficiency of protein in the ration of the horse may result in the following deficiency symptoms: depressed appetite, poor growth, loss of weight, reduced milk production, irregular estrus, lowered foal crops, loss of condition, and lack of stamina.

Since the vast majority of protein requirements given in feeding standards are on a minimum basis—the allowances for race, show, breeding, and young horses should be higher.

A complete farrier department is a part of our equine department
. We stock horseshoes and all of the tools needed to get the job done. The shoes can be purchased singly or by the case, and if you need a size we don't stock, we can usually get it for you. We have nippers, trimmers, anvils and nails plus lots more.

We use St. Croix Forge as our primary supplier of farrier products. A relatively young company in the industry, St. Croix Forge family started manufacturing horseshoes in 1984 with a goal to make the finest horseshoes in America. To do this they spent time traveling across the country meeting with farriers. They went to the front lines to find out what worked and didn't work. They listened to the suggestions of the farriers when it came to product design and development. And they continue to look for ways to improve their products! They also work with educators who present seminars at dealer events and farrier gatherings. Their mission is "to share their years of knowledge and experience in an informal manner." The seminars include information about all aspects of shoeing horses.

Quality Supply carries a complete selection of first aid products for your horse:

  • Products that will aid the healing process on cuts and wounds
  • Antibiotics to help the animal fight infection
  • Wraps that can be used to bandage or protect the horse's legs, hooves or tail
  • Topical dressings to improve hoof health

Grooming is important for your horse. At Quality Supply we have all of the tools and products needed to keep your horse in top form.

  • Fly repellant sprays are a must to keep your horse fly-free during the warmer months. Left unchecked they can be a serious problem, leaving sores on face and body of your horse. There are sprays and rubs to repel flies, ticks and other pests.
  • If you plan to use your horse as a show animal, you'll need shampoos and conditioners to keep their coats clean and shiny; brushes and curry combs will be needed to comb out the mane and tail; hair polish to give instant highlights to the horse's coat; hoof polish in black or clear depending on the hoof color.
  • Lets not forget horse blankets and cooling sheets. If you show your horses, a good horse blanket will keep the coat looking its best and prevent that winter hair growth during cool weather. Cooling sheets let your horse cool off after a workout, without getting chilled.

Farnam has grown from a small mail-order business to one of the most widely recognized names in the animal health care industry. They are the largest marketer of equine products in the country. Their products serve both the performance and the pleasure horse markets. Quality Supply carries Farnam because we need to have the best quality and selection of products in order to serve our diverse customer base. Whether you need Rotation™ I and II to deworm your horses or Wonder Blue™ to shampoo them, and everything in between, Farnam makes it and we sell it.

Quality Supply carries products from Straight Arrow the manufacturers of the Original Mane 'n Tail Shampoo and Conditioner, and from Cowboy Magic®. Both companies market their products for both human and equine use.

Another line we carry is
Absorbine® products, manufactured by W.F. Young since 1892. They make: grooming products, fly repellants, muscle care and feed supplements to name a few. An old-timer in the equine health business, they provide a nice contrast to the relatively new Straight Arrow and Cowboy Magic.

As with most things in life, we like choices and our customers all have their favorites in these areas. With three strong product lines, we let the customer decide what works best for them!
